Golden thread software that proves your building information is complete

The golden thread is the concept introduced by Dame Judith Hackitt's Independent Review of Building Regulations (2018) and implemented through the Building Safety Act 2022 and SI 2023/911. It requires that accurate, up-to-date building information is created, maintained, and accessible throughout a building's lifecycle. This includes structural information, fire safety data, and maintenance records.

SI 2023/911 prescribes 14 categories of information including: the building's structure and external walls, fire safety systems, means of escape, building services, and energy systems. It also requires information about the management and maintenance of these systems, including inspection records and risk assessments.

A shared drive does not meet the requirements on its own. The regulations require version control, access logging, and proof that information has not been altered. Brocade provides tamper-proof checksums, version history, and access audit trails that demonstrate compliance -- features a shared folder cannot offer.

Every document stored in Brocade receives a SHA-256 checksum. These checksums are chained together, so any alteration to historical records is detectable. Combined with version control and access logs, this creates an immutable audit trail that the BSR can verify.

Brocade uses fail-open logic: missing or incomplete information is flagged as a warning, never hidden behind a false green status. The dashboard shows exactly which prescribed categories need attention, so you can prioritise your efforts.
